MICROSOFT (MS) HOME USE PROGRAM INFORMATION

NOTICE:

The Microsoft Home Use Program (HUP), which allowed Army military and civilian employees to purchase select Microsoft software for $19.99 ended on 31 March 2009.

The ability to purchase MS Office expired along with the Army Microsoft Enterprise License Agreement (MS ELA); it has not been determined if or when this program will be reinstated.

INFORMATION:  The HUP is directly tied to Software Assurance (SA) for the desktop suite.  The Army elected not to keep SA on the desktop on the Microsoft Enterprise License Agreement (MSELA) thus losing the HUP benefit. The Air Force and Navy [when they renewed their MSELA] kept SA thus giving them the HUP benefit.

CHESS (Computer Hardware, Enterprise Software and Solutions) is working with MS to see if there is anything they can do for Army personnel.

BEWARE:  IF you see emails regarding this benefit for the Army, it is most likely an email someone has "doctored up" from the Air Force or Navy.

Mac users, look below:
